Tide and crickets

I’m with my beautiful new bride, my wife, my wifey.

Sat here, privileged to be here, hearing this view, seeing this view.

We’re feeling this view.

The tide rolls in, washing the shore with a salty hello.

Crickets, unseen are singing their crickity endless song.

It’s a lovely second floor view of a wide open sea blanketed by a deep blue evening sky.

The sun is about to kiss the sea and bring another luscious orange glow.

Staff have worked tirelessly, making our experience something special.

Like focused bees they glide efficiently around the guests of the hotel we’re staying at for our honeymoon.

In the background and out of sight they bring a drink, clear a plate, freshen a room, ever the watchful owls.

Bees or owls?

We’re on our balcony in guest dressing gowns and looking at this beautiful view of a setting sun over a Cypriot sea.

Dotted palm trees that stretch along the walkway that hugs the shore line become shades as day turns to night and the sky becomes a vista of stars.

Walking around today, with my deliriously happy honeymoon mind, I saw a painted picture of a multitude of human emotions.

People bored, people desperate; helpful, distant, tired, excited, happy, sad, relaxed.

Families, couples, singles.

Yet the happy workers work, they have their own turmoil yes maybe but it’s not shown.

So I’m sat feeling blessed that I’m now married, and married to a beautiful woman and person.

How many have sat in my seat, looking at this view in this dressing gown.

Did they see what I feel, did they feel as happy as me?

The crickets keep cricketing and the tide keeps rolling.

Rope swings

I was walking with tee and one of her clients, a beautiful husky called Boris.

Finally we have a lovely warm sunny day, so the three of us are making the most of the weather when I came across this.

Ok it’s not the best but the memories of proper rope swings was a nostalgic trip!

Instant memories of a childhood spent swinging on a rope came flooding back.

Who cares about health and safety, as a kid if you came across a rope and stick there was fun to be had.  Who cares whether the stranger who setup the rope was competent, I didn’t care and risked unknown injuries to swing as far or as high as possible!

There was one swing down near giants grave  (love that name but could never find the grave of the giants).  The swing hung over the canal.  Long summer days were spent swinging out and diving into the cool water.

Now that sounds idyllic but if you saw the canal with adult eyes you’d be concerned.  But we didn’t care we had a swing and cool water to dive into!

Another fine swing was in the ferry woods, it was atop of a deep drop so when we swung out it was like you were at the top of the empire state building!

I went back a few years ago and it was more like six foot tall!

Funny how time alters memory.  Yet the memories of the fun to be had with rope swings is a priceless memory, who doesn’t love a good rope swing!

Happy memories.

Love Rome

Just uploaded a load of pictures to google drive and the drive created this photo animation..tickles me.

Love the colleseium too.

Tee and I went to Rome in February to watch the rugby..and to soak up the gorgeous sites.

There was an awesome pre match band at the stadium.  Worth going just for them!

If you’re going in two years time make sure you don’t miss them.

Highly recommended!

Brixham Pirate Festival 2017

First time at the The Brixham Pirate Festival and really enjoyed.

People were up for a good laugh, and with an actual pirate ship at the dock I can see why the festival is popular.

They even had pirate pensioners!

Plenty of Johnny Depp lookalikes..Really walked the full plank on their outfits.

Wonder what Johnny would have thought of his many imitators!

As the families headed for safety, the pirates headed for rum!

Think there were to be quite a few hangovers the next day, with people making the most of the sun.

pirates

Tee and I are definitely going next year, and we’ll be in full pirate garb..Can’t wait.

There was one pirate who was getting most of the attention…Even if he did look like he was Shanghaied into the costume!

See you there in 2018?
